Intermediate American College English

ESL students are placed within the sequence of courses in the Intermediate American College English Certificate according to their English fluency. Students completing this pattern of study will have an independent level of fluency in the English language which will help them be successful interacting in social situations, participating in academic courses, and engaging in general employment.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

• Produce writing such as basic academic essays in English at a high-intermediate level.
• Communicate in English so that students can function with native speakers to express opinions and discuss abstract topics in academic or business contexts.
• Demonstrate a growing awareness of patterns and expectations of United States culture, especially in social, academic and business situations.
