The Inland Empire Technical Trade Center (IETTC) is a proposed regional workforce training center designed to prepare students and community members for high-skill, high-wage careers through technical education and industry partnerships. The purpose of this project is to expand career pathways, workforce development opportunities, and access to hands-on training throughout the Inland Empire.

The Vision Behind the Inland Empire Technical Trade Center

Government and private sector leaders across the Inland Empire (IE) agree that local availability of an educated and skilled workforce is critical for competitiveness in the global economy. While the IE has a rich variety of traditional post-secondary institutions offering certificate and degree programs, there are only a handful of technical training centers. Given the need for additional local technical training capacity to support the region's residents and employers, Riverside Community College District is seeking resources for the establishment of the Inland Empire Technical Trade Center (IETTC).

The IETTC is a response to the urgent need for good jobs for the region's residents, diversification of the regional economy, and for a locally available educated and skilled workforce for the region's current and future employers in a region expected to grow to seven million residents within 30 years. This Center, when finished, will provide residents with access to training utilizing an “earning while learning" approach combining relevant work-based learning experiences with industry-standard technical training, moving residents from poverty to self-sufficiency.

Q&A

Find answers to common questions about the IETTC project, including construction impacts, parking, traffic, and community benefits.

Construction activities will primarily take place during daytime hours and are not expected to impact nearby housing communities.

No. The lighting for the IETTC has been intentionally designed to minimize impact on the surrounding community and nearby residences.

We do not anticipate parking to be an issue for the surrounding community. The project has been planned with future growth in mind, and there is room to expand parking capacity if additional parking is needed in the future.

Parking plans for the IETTC are still being evaluated. Any future parking policies will be developed with accessibility, student needs, and community impact in mind.

As with any large-scale project, there may be some impact on traffic in the surrounding area. RCCD is actively working with the City to explore solutions and identify ways to help support the community and minimize potential traffic concerns.

The IETTC is expected to provide hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for high-demand careers while expanding access to education and workforce training. The project is also intended to help improve equity in the surrounding neighborhood by creating greater opportunities for local students and community members.
