U.S. Senator Adam Schiff’s Office Visits Riverside City College

Visit highlights statewide effort to engage California community colleges and better understand student resources and needs

Riverside City College welcomed James DeLoera, a representative from the office of U.S. Senator Adam Schiff, for a campus visit focused on learning more about the College, the resources available to students and the role RCC plays in supporting educational access and opportunity throughout the Inland Empire.

The visit is part of Senator Schiff’s broader effort to engage directly with community colleges throughout California. Schiff’s office has noted that, as senator for the state with the largest community college system in the nation, he has been visiting colleges across California, including Woodland Community College, Long Beach City College, Barstow Community College, San Bernardino Valley College and Reedley College.

During the RCC visit, DeLoera had an opportunity to see firsthand the programs, services and resources available to students while learning more about the needs of RCC and the communities it serves. The visit also created an opportunity for College representatives to share how community colleges serve as critical access points to higher education, workforce preparation and economic mobility.

“Having representatives from Senator Schiff’s office on our campus provides an important opportunity to show, rather than simply tell, the impact community colleges have every day,” said LaShe Rodriguez, Director of Government Relations, RCCD, “Our students come to RCC with different goals, experiences and needs, and we are proud to provide the resources and pathways that help them move forward. We appreciate the Senator’s office taking the time to engage directly with community colleges and better understand the opportunities and challenges facing our students.”

Senator Schiff has made community college engagement a visible part of his statewide outreach. During recent visits, he has met directly with students, toured academic and workforce programs, and discussed issues ranging from affordability and student support to workforce development and federal investment.

“California’s community colleges are essential to expanding educational and economic opportunity across our state,” said U.S. Senator Adam Schiff. “Visiting campuses like Riverside City College allows our office to hear directly from college leaders, faculty, staff and students about the resources that are making a difference and the areas where continued partnership and support are needed.”

The visit provided RCC with an opportunity to strengthen its connection with Senator Schiff’s office and ensure the experiences and needs of Inland Empire students remain part of conversations taking place at the federal level.

Senator Schiff has also advocated for federal investments in education and workforce development throughout California. In fiscal year 2026, his office announced more than $254 million in federal funding for projects across the state, including investments supporting education, workforce preparation and community development.
