RCC Leaders Selected for Prestigious 2026 Global Executive Leadership Program

Riverside City College proudly celebrates Elia Blount, vice president of business services, and Lorena Newson, Ed.D., dean of College Equity, Inclusion and Engagement, on their acceptance into the highly competitive 2026 Global Executive Leadership Program. This distinguished program, led by the Dr. Yasmin Davidds Leadership Institute and the Multicultural Executive Leadership Foundation, brings together multicultural executives and global change leaders committed to advancing equity, authenticity and transformational leadership.
Blount and Newson were selected for their demonstrated leadership, commitment to student success and dedication to fostering inclusive, equity-centered environments within higher education. Their acceptance reflects both individual excellence and Riverside City College’s broader mission to cultivate leaders who serve with purpose and impact.
“I’m truly honored to be selected for the Global Executive Leadership Program,” said Blount. “This opportunity represents a chance to grow alongside inspiring leaders and bring back new perspectives that will strengthen the work we do in support of our students and community.”
“I am grateful to be part of this incredible cohort of leaders,” said Newson. “This experience will allow me to deepen my leadership practice and continue advancing meaningful, inclusive work that supports student success and belonging at Riverside City College.”
The Global Executive Leadership Program is designed to strengthen executive capacity through culturally responsive leadership practices, global perspectives and collaborative learning experiences. Participants engage in a series of intensive sessions focused on personal and professional growth, culminating in a graduation gala in Los Angeles later this year.
According to the program’s acceptance letter, participants are selected for their ability to contribute meaningfully to a community of leaders “committed to growth, authenticity and collective impact.”
Their selection underscores Riverside City College’s continued commitment to leadership development, equity and advancing opportunities for both students and the broader community.
