RCC Dean Lorena J. Newson, Ed.D., Elected First Vice President of NAACP Victor Valley Branch 1082

Riverside City College proudly congratulates Lorena J. Newson, Ed.D., Dean of Equity, Inclusion, and Engagement, on her recent election as First Vice President of the NAACP Victor Valley Branch 1082 for the 2025–2027 term.
With a strong commitment to equity and a clear vision for progress, Newson brings decades of experience in education, advocacy, and community engagement to this regional leadership role.
“I am truly humbled to serve as the incoming First Vice President for our branch,” said Newson. “This is a pivotal time for our community, and I’m honored to work alongside dedicated leaders and members to advocate for equity, justice, and opportunity for all.”
In her current role at RCC, Newson leads college-wide efforts to create a more inclusive campus culture through strategic initiatives that support historically underrepresented students. She works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners to implement culturally responsive practices and foster institutional accountability, making a lasting impact on student success and equity outcomes.
As First Vice President, Newson will support the branch’s operational goals, expand outreach efforts, and help lead initiatives that uplift underserved communities across the High Desert region.
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and most influential civil rights organization, dedicated to securing political, educational, social, and economic equality for all. The Victor Valley Branch continues this legacy through local programs, advocacy, and civic engagement.
