About
Naomi Querubin-Abesamis, Ed.D., Dean of Student Development and Wellness, brings more than 30 years of experience in student affairs and student services, including 20 years serving within the California Community Colleges. An equity-minded and transformational leader, she oversees a portfolio of student support programs and services at Riverside City College, including the Associated Students of Riverside City College, Basic Needs Resource Center, Residential Scholars Program and housing partnership with the University of California, Riverside, Student Health and Psychological Services, the CARES team, and Student Life and Leadership. Prior to joining RCC, she served as Interim Dean of Student Support Services and Director of Student Life and Leadership at Fullerton College, where she provided leadership for more than 13 student services areas.
An alumna of the University of California, Riverside, Querubin-Abesamis has long been committed to advancing student success, culturally responsive leadership, and a sense of belonging for all students. As a student leader, she helped advocate for the expansion of Asian Pacific Islander Student Programs, supported the development of the first Filipino American Studies course through Ethnic Studies, and helped establish the inaugural Filipino Graduation celebration, which continues today. She is actively involved in statewide organizations, including Asian Pacific Americans for Higher Education, the California Community College Student Affairs Association, and the Aspiring Radical Leaders Institute, and serves as president and chair and co-founder of the Filipinx Community College Collaborative. She earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Community College Leadership from California State University, Fullerton, an M.A. in English from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a B.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of California, Riverside.
