About
“Herb” brings 20 years of experience in higher education, including 17 years within the California Community College system, and currently serves as Dean of Counseling and Specially Funded Programs at Riverside City College. Guided by principles of servant leadership, he is committed to advancing student access, equity, and success. Throughout his career, Herb has contributed to numerous college, district, and statewide committees and has demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement.
His leadership includes service on the Boards of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino, African American Male Educational Network and Development (A²MEND), and the Chief Student Services Officer Association. He has a proven record of developing programs that expand opportunities for historically disproportionately impacted student populations while centering student voice and need. Herb’s professional background also includes service as an Emergency Response Social Worker for Riverside County Child Protective Services and as Executive Director and Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino. A proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., he is dedicated to uplifting local youth—particularly African American males—by encouraging educational attainment and long-term success.
