The (STAR) Success Through Achievement and Retention Project provides academic support, leadership development, scholarship information, and many other quality services to student veterans. This project operates in collaboration with the Veterans Resource Center, student organizations, and various community agencies to assist student veterans in reaching their educational goals faster and maximize the use of their VA education benefits.

Services offered include (but are not limited to):

Unique Academic Guidance from TRIO Program Counselors
Success & Skill Building workshops
Comprehensive Transfer Assistance
Personalized Career Exploration
Individual Attention and support
Exclusive Textbook Library
Subject Specific Tutoring
Multiple College Tours

In addition the Veterans Resource Center works with eligible Veterans to provide a total of four years of priority registration. Veterans must take a copy of their DD214 discharge papers to RCC Veterans Services or Admissions & Records. For more information, please click here.

The STAR project also has a mentoring service, exclusive for student veterans, called the TRIO Mentors for Veterans Program or TRIO MVP. This mentorship service is staffed by student veterans who themselves attended Riverside City College, graduated, and successfully transferred to 4 year universities. The mentors can provide guidance in subjects such as classroom acclimation, use of benefits, social adjustment, as well as quality advice in the many other unique facets of a veteran’s life as a non-traditional college student. If interested in TRIO MVP mentoring services see the attached brochure and come in to the office at your earliest convenience for your intake appointment!
