Automotive Engine Performance Specialist
The Automotive Engine Performance Specialist certificate/
degree prepares students to apply technical knowledge related
to service, diagnosis and repair of Engine Performance and
Emission Control systems found on modern automobiles.
Emphasis placed on fuel injection, ignition, emission, and
computer control systems. Preparation for state smog test
certification is covered.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this program, students should be
able to:
- Demonstrate personal and shop safety procedures needed
to safely work in an automotive shop environment. - Diagnose, service and repair common fuel injection and
ignition systems found on modern automobiles. - Diagnose, service and repair computer control systems
found on modern automobiles. - Diagnose, service and repair various emission control
systems found on modern automobiles.

Associate of Science Degree
The Associate of Science Degree in Automotive Engine
Performance Specialist will be awarded upon completion of
the degree requirements, including general education and other
