RCC Focus Group Interveiw

Research Purpose and Questions

With the RP Group, RCC will conduct a series of eight focus groups with RCC male students. The focus groups will be conducted in a collaborative manner where participants will focus on consensus. The model is borrowed from the Community College Insights Protocol Matrix developed by the Minority Male Community College Collaborative. The purpose of the focus group interview is to hear the voice of RCC students as a whole. Focusing on those challenges that were most common, participants would then address the following three questions as a group for each challenge:

  1. What personal factors help you overcome this challenge?
  2. What is the college doing to help you succeed in spite of these challenges?
  3. What advice would you give to the college to help it better serve students?
