Academic Support at RCC provides free resources and services to help RCC students meet their academic goals. Our peer instructors are trained to address the unique needs of a diverse community of students. Further, we promote a student-centered community where student needs continue to shape our values and beliefs.
Academic Support is a multi-unit support department housed in RCC’s Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Teaching/Learning Center. The MLK Teaching/Learning Center features a centralized space composed of distinct student services geared toward academic support. The building is equipped with designated study areas, instructional space, and computer labs. Additionally, it houses several academic support services including the Writing and Reading Center (WRC), Center for Communication Excellence (CCE), the Transformation Grant, Tutorial Services, Study Group Leaders Program, Supplemental Instruction (SI), the Math Learning Center (MLC), the CAT/CIS/CSC (CCC) lab, and the STEM Engagement Center.
Academic Support Mission Statement
Riverside City College’s Academic Support Programs provide free student centered support services for a diverse student population enrolled in academic college coursework. We provide computer labs and tutorial support for students enrolled in reading, writing, math, science, technology, communications, and Computer Information Systems coursework.
Special programs targeting performance gaps provide support for accelerated programs, learning communities, and part-time students. We are committed to advancing the art of tutoring and leadership by employing students that excel in various subject areas. Further, we engage the community to empower students to succeed by encouraging interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
