TSS offers video conferencing for Riverside Community College District functions. This is wonderful alternative for those departments who cannot afford to travel all over the state.
TSS uses Polycom Viewstation, Polycom VS4000, and Polycom HDX systems. They each have a variety of features. Please see our specifications section below for more details.
The video conferencing system conveys information via
ISDN lines and IP Networking. TSS offers point-to-point and multipoint conferencing. The requesting department
must pay all toll charges, when applicable, for videoconferencing.
Presently, the Riverside campus is equipped with five
video conferencing systems.

Polycom's Viewstation video conferencing system is quite versatile, and offers a wide range of options. A document camera, VCR, and computer display can be added to the unit upon request. The Viewstation communicates via a dedicated network connection and IP. This dedicated network connection is a dedicated link to the Cal State and UC system, 3CMeNow.
The VS4000 Videoconferencing system is very versatile and offers a document camera, VCR, and computer input. More features are available depending on the room you are conferencing in.
The Polycom HDX system is quite versatile, and offers a wide range of options. A document camera, VCR, and computer display can be added to the unit upon request. The Polycom HDX communicates via IP.

Any room equipped with a network connection should be able to video conference; however, IP conferencing is currently only available on a limited basis. Please contact Stephen Ashby at (951) 222-8883 if you wish to participate in an IP video conference.
To schedule a video conference a room must be secured. Please follow normal room scheduling procedures. For a list of videoconferecing capable rooms refer to the locations listed below.
Once a room has been secured, contact Stephen Ashby (951)222-8883 with the following information:
- Name of the party you will be conferencing with
- Contact name
- Phone number
- Conference technician's name and phone number
- Video dial-up numbers
- Date and time of event
- Event duration
Video Conferencing Rooms
TSS uses Polycom videoconferencing units, along with supporting instructional equipment. TSS offers point-to-point and multipoint conferencing. Departments requesting any videoconferencing are responsible for paying all toll charges that may be associated with an ISDN videoconference. The video conferencing system conveys information via ISDN lines.
TSS also provides 3CMeNow connectivity via dedicated network connections in several rooms at each college. 3CMeNow is a dedicated data network linking each of the campuses of the CSU and California Community Colleges. The dedicated network connection utilizes a Polycom viewing station, which has a built in camera. Upon request a VCR for recording events as well as playing tapes to remote sites can be added to the system. Additional equipment including a document camera, a video camera, and a television can also be requested at the time of scheduling.
Technology Support Services schedules videoconferences on a “first come, first served basis,” and requires at least two (2) weeks advance notice for scheduling. To schedule a videoconference, follow normal room scheduling procedures to secure the room. For IP video conferencing, the following rooms have are IP videoconferencing capable:
