Steps to Attend Classes at RCC

Step 1 - Apply to RCC
- You may apply if you:
- Have graduated from high school,
- Have passed the CA High School Proficiency Exam,
- Have passed the GED examination,
- Did not graduate but are 18 years of age or older,
- Are a high school student who has satisfied the concurrent enrollment admissions requirements, or
- Are an international student who has satisfied the international student admissions requirements.
- You may turn in an application in two ways:
- Online at www.rcc.edu - processed in 24 hours (weekends & holidays excluded)
- In person with a paper application-processed in 1 week.
- You'll receive a Welcome Letter in the mail with your RCC Student ID Number.
Step 2 - Apply for Financial Aid
- Fill out the FAFSA online (www.fafsa.ed.gov) or on paper (available in the Student Financial Services Office).
- Get more information on scholarships, grants, and loans at the Student Financial Services website: www.rcc.edu/studentfinancialservices. There may be some supporting documentation you need to turn in to obtain financial aid.
Step 3 - Mail Your Transcripts
- If you just graduated from high school, mail or walk in your high school transcripts.
- All transcripts should be official, sealed transcripts, no more than 90 days/3 months old.
- If you are a transfer student, mail or walk in your transcripts from all colleges previously attended.
- Students must fill out a Prerequisite Validation form in order to have coursework on official transcripts validated for Math, English or other prerequisites. Take to Counseling or mail to the campus where you expect to receive student services:

Step 4 - Take the Assessment Test
- If you are a first-time college student you will need to take the assessment test. Most testing is done on a walk-in basis but some tests require appointments. For hours, check online (www.rcc.edu/services/assessment/dates) or call:

Step 5 - Attend an Orientation
- If you are a new student you should sign up for the first available orientation after your assessment test. Orientation is intended to provide informative, practical advice about the college experience as a whole. To find out when an orientation is available, walk in or call the Counseling Office at:

Step 6 - Set up your RCC Mail Account

As a student of Riverside Community College you are now provided with free student email via Windows Live by Microsoft. You can find RCC Mail on the homepage at www.rcc.edu. Be sure to view the tutorial online to assist you. If you do not know your RCC email address, go to the WebAdvisor menu at www.rcc.edu. Click on What's My Email Address. When you log in for the first time your temporary password will be your 6 digit birth date.

RCC Mail will provide registration appointments, payment deadlines, education record changes, class cancellations, new offerings, faculty correspondence , waitlist options and other features. While it’s important for you to open RCC Mail often to read important messages, you must do so at least once every 180 days or all messages will be deleted. You can also access RCC Mail directly by going to www.mail.live.com.
Step 7 - Get your free RCCD College Card (BEGINNING JULY 16)
- The RCCD College Card is your Official Student ID, lab and library card.
- The College Card will also provide you with access to student activities on campus, and discounts for college athletic and performing arts events if you have paid your Student Services fee.
- Available at the Admissions office on all three campuses. Must present photo ID.

Step 8-Log in to WebAdvisor to Check Your Registration Dates/Holds
- Go to WebAdvisor at www.rcc.edu and click on Log In Video for detailed log in instructions. See Check my Registration Dates/Holds. Registration dates are available 1-2 months before the term begins.
Step 9 - Register for Classes
- View the Registration Video on WebAdvisor.
- Search for classes on WebAdvisor; you'll also receive a Schedule of Classes or you can download it on the web.
- On your registration date you will be able to register via WebAdvisor (www.rcc.edu) or Phone Registration (951-779-3100). Adding and dropping can also be done over WebAdvisor or Phone Registration.
- Pay special attention to important dates (ex: the last day to drop with a refund, without a "W", or with a "W") found on your schedule.
- Remember, dropping your class is your responsibility. If you decide to stop attending, do not assume your instructor will drop it for you. It is your responsibility!
Step 10 - Pay Enrollment Fees
- Your fees are due after you enroll. Every term you will pay for your units, a health fee, a student services fee (optional), and parking (optional). You can pay over WebAdvisor and Phone Reg using Visa or MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
- If you drop a class within the refund deadline, your refund will be returned to you 6-8 weeks after the term begins. It will be returned the same way you paid (cash or check will receive a check; credit card will be credited back to that account).
Step 11 - Buy Your Textbooks
- Take a copy of your schedule to the bookstore to find out what book you need to purchase for your classes.
Students may apply for degrees and certificates for any term in the year during the following four application periods:
Fall Semester - Beginning March 1
Winter Intersession - Beginning October 1
Spring Semester - Beginning October 1
Summer Term - Beginning March 1
