Internship Project
The Faculty and Educational Leadership Internship Project (click link to download brochure - PDF format) is an important community college faculty and leadership training project opportunity. The primary focus is locating and placing qualified applicants into faculty and leadership internship positions with an emphasis on quality instruction and programs. Although participation in the internship program is not limited exclusively on the basis of ethnicity gender or other group identification, an emphasis of recruitment is on interns who are members of historically underrepresented groups as defined in Title 5, Section 53001: American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Blacks, Hispanics, women, persons with disabilities and persons with migrant backgrounds.
This program is a major initiative developed through Riverside Community College-Moreno Valley's Title V Cooperative Grant in cooperation with Riverside Community College-Norco and 4-year universities in the Inland Empire to identify, recruit, train, prepare and increase the number of faculty and leaders from historically underrepresented groups in California community colleges.
The project recruits and places interns in the disciplines and/or departments with the greatest available mentors and the need to recruit quality part-time or full-time faculty and leaders. To the extent appropriate for the particular colleges and universities, the program has included vocational disciplines as well.
Currently three higher education institutions are involved with the project. These colleges are: Riverside Community College, Moreno Valley and Norco campuses, and University of California, Riverside.
Funding (100%) for the Faculty Internship Project is provided by the Department of Education through the Title V Cooperative Grant.
