New Student Checklist
1. Application for Admission
Complete an Application for Admission to Riverside Community College online.
2. Assessment/Orientation
Reasonable accommodations for Assessment testing will be provided upon request. Special orientation for deaf and hard of hearing students will also be provided.
New students must take the Accuplacer Online assessment test for placement into English, math and reading courses. In most cases, there is no appointment necessary. The PTESL is required for placement into English as. Second Language courses and does require an appointment. Both tests are available at all campuses. Tests taken at other colleges will not be honored.
Placement tests, in combination with other academic background information produces a preparation score the college uses to determine appropriate coursework for students. The preparation score will give you and your counselor an indication of which classes are right for you. It is important to follow recommendations since prerequisites will be enforced.
