RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT ARTICULATION
ASSOCIATE DEGREE
The awarding of an associate degree is intended to represent more than an accumulation of units. It symbolizes the successful attempt on the part of the college to lead students through patterns of learning experiences designed to develop certain capabilities and insights. Among these are the ability to think and to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; to use mathematics; to understand the modes of inquiry of the major disciplines; to be aware of other cultures and times; to achieve insights gained through experience in thinking about ethical problems; and to develop the capacity for self understanding.

RCCD OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAMS
Riverside Community College offers associate in science degrees and certificate programs with occupational emphasis. Both provide instruction in the skills and knowledge needed to enter a skilled or professional occupation. Associate in science degree programs require completion of at least 60 units of credit, which normally take four semesters. Certificate programs, learning to an associate of science degree, require a minimum of 18 units, but vary in number of units required; most can be completed in two semesters. Occupational certificates lead to employment. Each course required for the certificate must be completed with a "C" grade or better. All can be counted toward the degree as well as the major.
