Undecided Major
Are you still deciding on a major? That's OK! If you are entering into Riverside Community College District (RCCD) without a specific field of study, you are an “undecided major.” You are not alone! It is okay to come to college and not have a clue into what you want to study. Believe it or not between 30-40% of incoming students are uncertain of a major or their field of study. Choosing a major is one of those decisions that comes to you in your own way and is based on your personal interests, goals, and life experiences.
Entering this particular college as an undecided major has great advantages. Your time as an undecided major can be used to explore your interests and develop fundamental skills that will be essential to your future career. It is also estimated that over 75-80% of students change their majors and many do so more than once. Regardless, there is no right or wrong way to choose a major. If you are still deciding which path to take, there are many ways to conquer your dilemma.Â
For instance, Career Counseling is available through our counseling departments; the Transfer/Career Center Team is here to help you in any way. Free Career Assessments (CHOICES & EUREKA: True Colors), Career Assessments (Myers Briggs, Strong Interest Inventory, COPS & Self Directed Search) referral by a counselor. Also, there is a Guidance 47 (Career Exploration and Life Planning) course that students can take to assist them on making the right career choice. Come into the Transfer/Career Center for more assistance or call (951) 222-8072/8446. Remember there is skilled and helpful career counselors (951) 222-8440 available to assist you as well.Â
