A major is a specialized field of study that a student chooses to pursue which leads to a degree and preparation for a career. Counselors throughout RCCD want to help you meet your goals here at this institution. It is in your best interest to meet with a counselor every semester to make sure you’re headed towards your objective.

- IGETC 2009/10 or IGETC 2010/11:
Intersegment General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC): If you choose to follow IGETC, you must complete it before you transfer; otherwise you will be required to satisfy the specific lower division general education requirements of the university or college of transfer. Â Completion of IGETC will permit a student to transfer form a community college to a campus in either the CSU or UC system without the need to take additional lower-division general education courses. Â
- CSUGE 2009/10 or CSUGE 2010/11:
California State University General Education Requirement (CSUGE): To obtain a Bachelor’s degree form a CSU campus, you must complete 48 semester units of general education, nine of which must be upper division units. Â Riverside Community College may certify a maximum of 39 units as having fulfilled the CSU lower division general education requirements. Â Grades of “C” or better must be earned in 30 of these 39 units. Â All students are strongly advised to complete all the requirements prior to transfer.

- ASSIST-UC/CSU Articulation: ASSIST is an online student-transfer information system that shows how course credits earned at one public California College or University can be applied when transferred to another. ASSIST is the official repository of articulation for California's pubic colleges and universities and provides the most accurate and up-to-date information about student transfer in California.
