Riverside Community College District (RCCD) offers a variety of career assessments. After meeting with a counselor, a student will be referred for the most appropriate assessment. Self-assessment is a process by which you learn more about yourself -- what you like, what you don't like, and how you tend to react to certain situations. This information can help you determine the occupation that best fits you. The RCCD Career assessment options include:

(SII) STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY
Strong Interest Inventory (SII) – Matches student interests with career fields and occupations. This information can be used to help you choose a major or explore new career fields. It is also used to help understand work interests and to illustrate the kinds of work in which you may be comfortable with. The SII will NOT tell you one specific career field to pursue. It will point out some patterns of interests and recommend career areas to explore. An individual counseling appointment is needed to interpret your results and a printed report is provided for you. (MBTI) MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR
Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) – is a personality assessment. Students will gain valuable information and insights into personality style and how that style relates to the world. This instrument is designed to help you understand your unique personality and the way you relate to others around you. (SDS) SELF-DIRECTED SEARCH
Self-Directed Search (SDS) – Allows students to understand more about self and how individual skills and interests are related to a career choice. The SDS is the most widely used career interest inventory in the world. Whether you are looking for a college major, beginning a job search, or thinking about a career change, the SDS will provide valuable career information. Students determine 3-letter Holland code to help find the careers that best match interests and abilities. A follow-up individual interpretation and a printed report are provided. The cost of this assessment is $6. This assessment is taken in a written format.
(COPS) CAREER OCCUPATIONAL PREFERENCE SYSTEM
Career Occupational Preference System (COPS) - defines the kinds of work students are interested in doing. Students can compare the relative strengths of interests in activities. The first step in career-planning is to define the kinds of work you are interested in doing. The COP System Interest Inventory will help you to compare the relative strengths of your interests in activities performed in a great many different occupations. A follow-up individual interpretation and a printed report are provided. The cost of this assessment is $2. This assessment is taken in a written format.
