Riverside City College (est. 1916) is the seventh oldest public community college in California. Nearly 95 years as the largest higher education institution in the Inland Empire, the College has earned a reputation of excellence in the classroom, on stage, and on the athletic courts and fields.
RCC alumni include such luminaries as Japanese American artist Miné Okubo, Senator Robert Presley, Xerox process inventor Chester Carlson, and Admiral Allen Hill. It is home to the internationally acclaimed Marching Tigers band and to state champions in basketball, baseball, track and field, and water polo, as well as national football champions. The College boasts one of California's most successful ADRN and LVN nursing programs and a top Model United Nations team. And it is home to the state's first Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Gateway to College charter schools.
As a 23,000-student college, RCC is part of a multi-college system that includes the newly accredited Moreno Valley College and Norco College. Thanks to a $350 million general obligation bond approved in 2004, RCC and its sister colleges are in the middle of ambitious long-term capital construction plans. For RCC, current construction includes a 136,000 sq. ft. Nursing/Science/Math Complex, a 65-meter Olympic standard, and renovation of the historic Wheelock Stadium; future plans include a downtown Culinary Arts facility and the Riverside School for the Arts.
