Riverside Community College District (RCCD) in Southern California is seeking an exceptional individual for the position of President, Riverside City College (RCC). This position, reporting to the Chancellor, oversees the largest of the three campuses in the District in terms of student enrollment. The campus was awarded full reaccreditation by WASC in 2007.
The Riverside Community College District is the seventh oldest public two-year institution of higher education in California. Each semester, RCCD serves more than 32,000 students, with some 17,000 full- and part-time students attending Riverside City College. The campus population reflects the community: 35% Hispanic, 35% White, 11% African American, 9% Asian, with the remainder represented by Pacific Islander, Filipino, and Native American students. By 2010, RCC expects to serve more than 21,000 students, with that number rising to 23,000 by 2015. Full-time faculty and staff on the campus number 660.
As a comprehensive college, RCC offers more than 75 different transfer, associate degree, and certificate programs in the liberal arts and sciences, occupational, and applied technology areas. Today, RCC is poised for growth. Recent state and bond-funded capital construction projects include the completion of a multi-level parking structure, a new track and field complex, the modernization of a historical quadrangle, and the establishment of an Innovative Teaching & Learning Center in partnership with a local K-12 district. Future projects (funded through a $350 million district-wide bond measure approved in March 2004) include a School of Nursing/Science Complex, the Riverside School for the Arts, a centralized Student Services Center, and other projects identified through a campus-based, district-wide strategic planning process.
The successful candidate for president of Riverside City College will have an outstanding record of academic leadership, with the vision, passion, ability, and skills to advance the College in pursuit of its mission. The new president will understand the challenges associated with a multi-college system in terms of funding, program support, intra-district collaboration, governance, growth, and community relations. The successful candidate will also understand and bring experience in building partnerships with local K-12 districts through early and middle college high school programs and initiatives that increase access to higher education and student success.
