The Behavioral Intervention Resource Team (BIRT) offers assistance, education resources and consultation to faculty and staff in an effort to positively affect student retention and campus safety.

Riverside City College is concerned about the safety and health of all of its students, faculty and staff. As a result of this concern, RCC instituted a Behavioral Intervention Resource Team to assist faculty & staff to identify behaviors of concern and to assist in the intervention and/or treatment of behaviors which appear to be threatening either to the student or others.

The purpose of the Behavioral Intervention Resource Team is to serve as a central network focused on prevention and early intervention in college situations involving students experiencing serious distress or engaging in harmful or disruptive behaviors. The Team develops strategies for and provides consultations to the college community when concerns arise regarding student behavior or when their behavior is destructive, disruptive or threatening. This Team will regularly assess these situations in the college community and will recommend actions in accordance with existing college policies. Additionally the team will follow a program of continuing education of members and will review and recommend improvements to the student code of conduct when warranted.
