FLEX
The flexible calendar program provides time for full-time faculty to participate in professional development activities that are related to "staff, student and instructional improvement" (Title V, Section 55720).

There are two ways to participate in FLEX:
- On Campus Plan: Log on to FLEXtrack to sign up for on campus workshops and activities throughout the year.
- Individual Plan: Fill out the online form in the "Individual Activities" section at FLEXtrack. We will forward this to your department chair for approval.
Submit evidence of completion to Office of Faculty Affairs after activities are completed in accordance with your approved plan (required by state regulations, Title V, Section 55727 & 55728).

The state pays faculty salaries for their 18 FLEX hours. The hours may be used for:
- Improvement of teaching
- Maintenance of current academic and technical knowledge and skills
- In-service training for vocational education and employment preparation programs
- Retraining to meet changing institutional needs
- Intersegmental exchange programs
- Development of innovations in instructional and administrative technique and program effectiveness
- Computer and technological proficiency programs
- Courses and training implementing affirmative action and upward mobility programs
- Other activities determined to be related to educational and professional development pursuant to criteria established by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, including, but not necessarily limited to, programs designed to develop self-esteem.
