





Introduction to Leadership: Leadership Academy I

This series will focus on leadership education and research addressing the leadership challenges facing individuals and our institutions. Leadership involves the capacity to think and act beyond the boundaries that limit our effectiveness. Strong interpersonal skills, grounded in personal reflection and self-awareness are key to successful and effective leadership. RCCD's Leadership Academy I focuses on newer managers/supervisors or those in their first leadership role; as well as staff, faculty, and students interested in pursuing leadership positions and career pathways. Core components and objectives of the Academy include:
The core of RCCD's Introduction to Leadership, Academy I is designed to build the most critical skills for success through this leadership fundamentals and skill building development series. A comprehensive RCCD policies and procedures "tier" for new and upcoming is integrated into the program. Additionally training relative to specific RCCD operations is included in the leadership academy. Topics such as budget/finance; discipline procedures; employer/employee relations; CSEA and CTA information/introduction; enrollment management; time management; college culture student populations; and legal issues are part of the academy. Training and exposure to RCCD specific topics helps staff in the following manner:
RCCD's first Introduction to Leadership, Academy I will begin on Friday, February 25, 2011, meeting the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month thereafter from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm with breakfast provided. Sessions will take place at Moreno Valley College's Professional Development Center (located in PSC 11).
The program is voluntary and interested participants, whether nominated or applying directly, must submit the required application. Applications will be available from December 14, 2010 to January 20, 2011, visit the "How to Apply" link.
All employees must have the approval of their supervisor to participate in the Leadership Academy I program.
