Riverside Community College has one of the most active multi-campus student government programs in the country. The main purpose of student government is to provide student leaders with skills beyond what they learn in the classroom. Interpersonal communication, budget control, entrepreneurial skills, creativity and event planning are just a few of the skills that our very active student leaders will learn.
The student government is comprised of three main branches of government:
The Executive Cabinet is headed by the ASRCCD Trustee, who is elected by student vote in the spring of each year. This branch includes the Presidents and Vice Presidents of Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Norco College who are also elected by their respective campuses, the ASRCC District Senate Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary.
The Legislative Branch consists of Senators who are elected at-large each year from all three campuses. The Senate initiates legislation, approves budgets, expenditures, and appointments of officers.
The Judicial Branch consists of a number of Associate Justices who are appointed by the Trustee and each campus President, subject to Senate confirmation.
The Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of legislation, conducts student elections, and is responsible for holding student forums.
