STUDENT TRUSTEE, 2007-08
Carlos Naranjo, Jr.

Carlos R. Naranjo, Jr. has been a student at Riverside Community College since fall 2004. His educational focus has been on sharpening his skills as an artist and writer by taking art courses and tutoring students in writing. His goal is to become a high school chemistry teacher and possibly work in the environmental field.
His involvement at RCC began in 2005 when he served as a volunteer using his artistic skills to create posters for clubs and his people skills to attract students to on-campus events. He received the Associated Students Norco Campus (ASNC) Spring 2005 Volunteer of the Year Award. In spring 2006, he became a student senator for the ASNC and became directly involved in its decision making process. Upon the retirement of the ASNC president, Mr. Naranjo was promoted to vice president. This prepared him to become the ASNC 2006-07 president.
As ASNC president, Mr. Naranjo has encouraged student involvement, been a member on the Physical Resources and Strategic Planning Committees, and has been a dedicated participant to the creation of a Student Center building. He has provided students with quality events and was a regular contributor to the Norco Campus newspaper.
As student trustee, Mr. Naranjo hopes to increase student involvement beginning with campus organizations. He also seeks to reach the full potential of a student trustee by organizing RCC’s three campuses, implementing skillful budgeting and planning, and using his position on the Board to bring about positive change for the District.
