JOHN TILLQUIST
Dean, Economic Development
Dr. Tillquist, Dean of Economic Development, is responsible for economic development at Riverside Community College. His unit hosts six centers funded by ten federal and state grants comprised of multiple directorships for various national, state, and local business development initiatives. These include the Center for International Trade Development (CITD), the Procurement Assistance Center (PAC), Corporate and Business Development, the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT), and Education Training Export Consortium (ETEC). These centers assist small businesses in international trade, logistics, manufacturing, high technology, selling to the government, and the commercialization of high technology.
Dr. Tillquist also has district-wide responsibility for academic program development in Business and Computer Information Systems. In this role, Dr. Tillquist works with local businesses and governments to identify and establish curriculum and degree programs that provide skilled and semi-skilled labor for regional businesses. He also works with internal and external academic leaders to improve articulation, curriculum design, and student performance.
Dr. Tillquist holds a Ph.D. and an MS in computer science from the University of California, Irvine.
