CLASSROOM-BASED ASSESSMENT PROJECTS
Beginning in December, 2001 the District Assessment Committee funded eight faculty members to pilot the use of classroom based assessment techniques. Participants received $3000 in special project funding - $1000 for training, $1000 for project development, and $1000 for implementation. Participation required outside readings and attendance at assessment workshops in Spring 2002. Projects were developed and refined during the workshops. Project implementation took place in Fall 2002. Reports that were reviewed by the District Assessment Committee were required at the end of the project.

dIVERSITY SCORECARD
The James Irvine Foundation awarded a grant to the USC Center for Urban Education to fund the Diversity Scorecard Project. In December 2000, RCC agreed to participate in the project and appointed a team to develop a Diversity Scorecard for the District. The project represents a partnership of private and public, two-year and four-year postsecondary institutions. Each institution committed to utilizing existing institutional data to report and monitor progress toward excellence and equity for historically underrepresented ethnic minority students in four areas: access, retention, excellence, and institutional receptivity.
