Information Services - Wireless Access
The RCC District wireless network is for District faculty, staff, students and Library patrons only. Access to the wireless network is granted through your staff, student or Library account. Use of the RCCD District wireless network by non RCC employees, students or Library patrons is strictly prohibited. All access through the network may be monitored and logged. Any illegal use of the wireless network will be reported to the proper authorities. We do not allow any P2P file sharing applications or online gaming and these activities will be blocked. Repeated attempts to use these applications may result in loss of privilege.
The first step to obtain a wireless network connection is to complete a "Registration for Wireless Network Connection" form which you can download from the District website. Please note that the online form can only be submitted from a computer connected to the RCC District network. Forms submitted from outside of the network will be rejected. It takes 24-48 hours for the request to be processed. The MAC address on your wireless card will be registered on the District network and your access will be set up after we receive your registration request. Users may have 1 laptop and 1 PDA MAC address registered for use on the network. All district wide wireless access accounts will be created and maintained by Information Services.
In filling out the application, please note that wireless access may not be granted if any of the requested information is incomplete (such as N/A) or missing. Specifically, the Workgroup/Domain name is required on all PC type computers. For Macintosh type computers the workgroup or domain name option may be left blank. All other fields are required. If you do not have anti-virus, you will need to buy an anti-virus program and install it on your laptop or other wireless device. Anti-virus supplied by AOL that is not installed on your local machine is not acceptable. Also, Macintosh computers are not immune to viruses and therefore need antivirus software also.
