





Mission Statement
The Riverside County Regional Medical Center/Riverside Community College (RCRMC/RCC) Physician Assistant (PA) Program is dedicated to primary care physician assistant education; is committed to diversity in the selection of students, faculty and curriculum; emphasizes service to the medically underserved urban and rural populations of Riverside County; promotes the PA profession; and strives to produce quality primary care providers
Educational Philosophy and goals of the program
RCRMC/RCC PA Program is a community based program that was established in the community to ameliorate the shortage of health care providers in a diverse growing population. The program is an integral part of the Moreno Valley Campus and strives to support the mission of the campus by providing quality educational training that promotes behavioral changes that will lead to life long learning and social changes. The program contributes to the social needs of the community by providing health services to the medically underserved populations of the Inland Empire. Successful completion of the program leads to attainment of a high paying professional career that will advance the socioeconomic status of the students, thereby enhancing their lifestyles and providing resources for themselves and the community. The program prepares students for baccalaureate transfer and opportunities for graduate level degree attainment.
The goals of the program are to:
Prepare students with academic and clinical skills to provide health care services in a variety of settings with the direction and supervision of a doctor of medicine or osteopathy
Prepare students with skills in clinical problem-solving, assessment, and patient management; and to provide a fundamental knowledge base of the professional roles and responsibilities associated with the practice of physician assistant
Prepare students to provide appropriate information to patients, thus enabling patients to take a more active role in prevention and treatment - reflective of current pre-paid, managed-care trends in the industry
Prepare students to play an integral mid-level role in triaging patients at emergency point of entry;
Create opportunities for employment and industry interface through Riverside community partnerships with hospitals and clinics seeking effective solutions to understaffing in primary care and family practice areas.
