This program prepares individuals to perform the duties of fire fighters. This includes instruction in fire-fighting equipment operation and maintenance, principles of fire science and combustible substances, methods of controlling different types of fires, hazardous material handling and control, fire rescue procedures, public relations and applicable laws and regulation.

Fire Technology Mission Statement
The Riverside Community College District Fire Technology Program provides fire service education and training to enhance the ability of emergency responders to preserve life and protect property and the environment.
Fire Technology is the study of the physical properties, causes, consequences and control of fire. No so many years ago, Fire Technology, or as it was then known "Fire Science", was primarily the study of fire behavior and building construction. Today the study of fire technology is much broader and it includes such subjects as chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, management, fire behavior, and building construction. RCCD offers a certificate in Fire Technology as well as an Associate in Science degree that may be trasferred to a 4 year University. Fire Technology program offerings include:
Fire Technology Partnerships and Affiliations:
RCCD is a member of the California Fire Technology Directors Association. This organization is responsible for developing the associate degree fire technology curriculum standards for California and continues to promote cooperation and information exchange between community college fire training and education programs.
