Registered Nursing

The Nursing Education Program is located at the Riverside Campus only.  The program consists of two divisions, the Associate in Science degree in Nursing (ADN), and the Vocational Nursing certificate program.

ADN Program

The ADN Program requires four semesters of study after the completion of the prerequisite courses and eligibility requirements.  Upon completion of the 71.5 unit program, the graduate earns an Associate in Science degree in Nursing and is eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.  The approximate cost of the ADN Program is $3,200.  This cost covers tuition, books, uniform, parking/student fees, etc., but does not cover the costs of the prerequisites or general education courses required to achieve an associate degree.

Requirements

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• RCC application on file and eligibility to attend RCC;
• Official transcripts on file in Counseling of all colleges attended;
• High School Verification or equivalent (G.E.D., High School Proficiency Exam, Associate degree, Bachelor's degree);
• RCC and Cumulative College GPA of at least 2.0;
• Chemistry 2A or 3, Physics 10 & 11/or one year of High School Chemistry or Physics with a passing grade of "C" or better.

• Microbiology 1
• Psychology 9 (Developmental Psychology-Birth Through Death) Prerequisite to NRN 2 and 3 effective Spring 2005
• Courses in bold type must meet the 2.65 science GPA requirement.  Students applying to the program may have prerequisites in progress at time of application.
