Student Nurses' Organization (SNO)
The Student Nurses' Organization (SNO) is a vital part of the nursing programs at RCC, and has attained state and national recognition in recent years at California Nursing Students Association (CNSA) and National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) conferences. RCC student nurses held office in CNSA and represent RCC on the state and national levels. Nursing students are strongly encouraged to join SNO, and attend as many meetings and events as possible.
SNO provides support and guidance for students enrolled in Pre-Nursing courses and the Nursing Education programs. SNO provides leadership, education and mentoring opportunities on local, state, and national levels. SNO also sponsors a "Big Brother/Big Sister" program for nursing students, pairing new students with experienced students to support them during the Nursing Program. Breakthrough to Nursing is another program in SNO to share information about college and nursing as a profession to elementary, middle, junior high and high school students. This program supports underrepresented and underprivileged groups to look at college and nursing as a career choice.
The "SNO Flurry" monthly newsletter helps keep students and faculty up to date on events and progress of students during the school year.
The organization offers learning experiences outside of the classroom for personal and professional growth. SNO provides many opportunities for students to participate meaningfully in college and community activities, while promoting the achievement and maintenance of healthful living.
Members of SNO assume responsibility for contributing to nursing education in order to provide the highest quality of care. Read the SNO Flurry, SNO's monthly newsletter to keep up with what's happening in semester levels of both the VN & ADN program.
Our SNO members and advisors have been busy!
