Nursing 1: Introduction to Nursing Concepts and Practice

Ms. LaCava is an RCC Graduate, Nursing AA. She received her BSN from California State University, San Bernardino, and her MSN from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She holds the following certifications: Medical-Surgical Nursing-BC (ANCC), Gerontology-BC (ANCC), Public Health Nurse, Community College Life Teaching Credential, Gerontology (UCR), and Counseling Skills  (UCR).

Her nursing experience includes clinical nursing experience in the following areas: Home care, Medical-Respiratory nursing, Medical-Surgical nursing, Neurologic-Orthopedic nursing, and Diabetes Education. 

Her professional memberships include: Sustaining member, NSNA, Sustaining "Friend of CNSA" Platinum Circle, Sigma Theta Tau (Xi Theta Chapter), National Association of Orthopedic Nurses (NAON), American Diabetes Association (ADA), American Holistic Nurses' Association (AHNA), National League for Nursing (NLN), and California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics.

Ms. LaCava has served as the Student Nurses' Organization (SNO) Advisor since 1996, and Co-Chair of the Nursing Alumni Steering Committee (RCC Alumni House). She has received numerous awards in nursing education, including RCC Advisor of the Year, 1999; California Nursing Students' Association (CNSA) Teacher of the Year 2001; and the Caring Spirit Excellence in Nursing Education Award in 2005.
