Dr. Kross earned her Associate's degree in Nursing at East Los Angeles College and her Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) and Public Health Nursing Certification (PHN) at California State College, San Bernardino. She earned her Master's degree in Nursing Education (MSN) and Community Health Nursing at California State University, Los Angeles. Her Doctorate in Higher Education (Ed.D.) was earned in 1994 from Nova Southeastern University.
She has been certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and also as an AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) by the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board. She also is nationally certified as a bereavement counselor through the American Academy of Bereavement (AAB). Professional memberships include the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC).
Clinical experience includes a broad background in medical/surgical, emergency, and maternal-child nursing. Dr. Kross began her teaching career in 1976. She has served in various nurse educator roles at the vocational, associate degree, and baccalaureate levels. Prior teaching and administrative positions were held at Chaffey College, Alta Loma, CA, Greenfield Community College, Greenfield, Massachusetts, and California State University, Dominguez Hills.
Dr. Kross joined the nursing faculty at Riverside Community College in 1980. During her tenure here she has taught in several courses in both the associate degree and the vocational nursing programs. These primarily include medical/surgical, maternal-child, and psychiatric/mental health nursing. Additionally, she has served in administrative capacities as both Department Chairperson of the A.D.N. program, and as Dean/Director, Nursing and Allied Health Programs. She represented the nursing education programs on the college-wide Academic Senate from 2002-2005 and has served as the Chairperson of the Academic Standards Committee. She retired June, 2007 but continues to serve the department and nursing students as part time clinical faculty.
