Gloria graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas in 1975. She worked for on general medical floors, hemodialysis and a surgical intensive care unit. In 1981, Gloria began working in the Emergency Department.  She spent 10 years working for Riverside County as the first Emergency Medical Services Director and developed the EMS Agency. During this time, she worked in a per diem role at Riverside General Hospital Emergency Department as a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse.

 

Gloria transferred to the Riverside County Fire Department and spent 9 years developing and implementing EMS and fire training in conjunction with Riverside Community College, teaching firefighters, emergency medical technicians, law enforcement personnel and dispatchers. She also responded to emergency situations as a nurse and a paramedic. Gloria was the Medical Unit Leader on incidents (fires, bioterrorism incidents and other disasters) throughout Southern California, and was the Ryan White Designated Officer as well as hospital liaison for injured and critically ill firefighters.

 

Gloria completed her MSN in nursing with an education focus for a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Loma Linda University in 1997.  To facilitate her role with Riverside County Fire and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, she   completed a post-masters Family Nurse Practitioner program at Azusa Pacific University.

 

Gloria currently works part-time as an Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner and in a private family practice office/Urgent Care and is a member of a Southern California Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT).  For fun she scrapbooks, makes wreaths, fishes in the ocean and enjoys my 4 grandchildren.
