First Semester:
- Nursing 1:
Introduction to Nursing Concepts & Practice
(8 units)
An introduction to the Associate Degree Nursing Program and conceptual framework. Total of 72 hours lecture and 216 hours laboratory.
- Nursing 15:
Introduction to Nursing Roles and Relationships
(2 units)
Assists in the role transition to Registered Nursing student at Riverside Community College. Total of 36 hours lecture.

Nursing Learning Laboratory (elective)
(1 unit) **
An on-campus laboratory designed for self-paced practice and mastery of nursing skills necessary for providing safe client care throughout the program. Total of 54 laboratory hours. Credit/no credit only.
Second Semester
- Nursing 2:
Beginning Nursing Concepts of Health and Illness
(8 units)
Concepts from previous courses are applied to multicultural clients in acute care and community-based settings who are identified as being children, young adults, and/or members of childbearing families. Total of 63 hours lecture and 243 hours laboratory.

Nursing Learning Laboratory (elective)

An on-campus laboratory designed for self-paced practice and mastery of nursing skills necessary for providing safe client care throughout the program. Total of 54 hours laboratory. Credit/no credit only.
Third Semester:
- Nursing 3:
Intermediate Nursing Concepts of Health and Illness
(9 units)
Concepts from previous courses are applied to caring for multicultural clients with a variety of health and illness problems requiring intermediate nursing skills, interventions and concepts of health assessment. The health care needs of the young and middle-aged adult with medical-surgical health problems and mental health clients throughout the life cycle with a special focus on the psychosocial assessment of the older and very old adult are addressed. Total of 72 hours lecture and 270 hours laboratory.

Nursing Learning Laboratory (elective)

An on-campus laboratory designed for self-paced practice and mastery of nursing skills necessary for providing safe client care throughout the program. Total of 54 hours laboratory. Credit/no credit only.
Fourth Semester:
- Nursing 4:
Advanced Nursing Concepts of Health and Illness
(9 units)
Integrates total nursing care concepts in acute and other community-based settings. Emphasizes the health care of multicultural clients and their families throughout the life cycle who are experiencing complex or multiple health-illness problems. Includes advanced concepts of gerontological nursing. Total of 72 hours lecture and 270 hours laboratory.
- Nursing 16:
Dimensions of AD-Registered Nursing
(1.5 units)
Assists in the transition from student role to that of graduate of registered nursing program prepared for employment. Correlates with lab experiences in Nursing 4 to develop beginning leadership and management skills. Examines ethicolegal and philosophical factors of nursing practice relevant to a beginning practitioner. Total of 27 hours lecture.

An on-campus laboratory designed for self-paced practice and mastery of nursing skills necessary for providing safe client care throughout the program. Total of 54 hours laboratory. Credit/no credit only.
Other courses:
**For students who wish to put more time into self-paced practice in the Nursing Learning Laboratory, Nursing 8 (108 hours, 2 units) or Nursing 9 (162 hours, 3 units) may be taken instead of Nursing 7. Nursing 6 (27 hours, .5 units) is available during Winter and Summer intersession for students who wish to review skills and knowledge in preparation for the upcoming semester.
- Nursing 17:
Transition course for Advanced placement/transfer students
(2 units)
Required course for advanced placement/transfer students coming into the ADN program. Must be taken before admission to the RN program. This course includes an introduction to basic concepts of the RCC Associate Degree Nursing Program, and review of Nursing Process and care planning. Total of 27 hours lecture and 27 hours in the lab.
- Nursing 20:
National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)(elective)
(0.5 unit)
This twelve-hour workshop is offered to help students in Associate in Science Degree programs study for NCLEX-RN examination for licensure.
- Nursing 93:
Calculations for Healthcare
(1.0 unit)
This elective course is designed to help those who need further help with dosage calculation, and includes systems of measurement and principles of dosage calculation for the administration of medications and fluids. Nursing 93 will be offered during Winter and Summer Intersessions.
- Nursing 94:
Nursing Clinical Development Practicum
Provides nursing students the opportunity to strengthen and develop clinical skills and critical thinking skills. Requires faculty referral.
