Paramedic Students FAQ's
- Q: How do I obtain an application?
A: In order to obtain an application you must come into the office to pick one up. The office does not mail out applications. If you are out-of-state or not within driving distance, please contact our office for more information at (951) 571-6100 x4601.
- Q: Where is the office located?
A: The office is located at Ben Clark Training Center: 16888 Bundy Ave., Riverside, CA, 92518.
- Q: How long is the program?
A: The program is approximately one year in length.
- Q: Is the program full-time or part-time?
A: We are a full-time program. Part-time programs are not being offered at this time.
- Q: How many units is the program?
A: The program is 49.5 units.
- Q: How do I register for the course?
A: Admittance to the paramedic program is by application only. Once your completed application is submitted, the office will send out a letter instructing you to attend an orientation. At the orientation, you will be asked to attend a prep class. The prep class will help determine placement into the paramedic program. At the end of the prep class, you will be notified of your standing. Registration procedures will be explained at the end of the prep class.
- Q: When is the orientation?
A: The orientation date/time will be announced in a letter sent to you a week after the application deadline.
- Q: How long is the prep class?
A: The prep class is approximately 1 ½ weeks to 2 weeks.
- Q: How do I register for the prep class?
A: At the orientation, you will be informed on when the prep class is, and what is involved in taking the prep class.
- Q: When is the application deadline?
A: Applications must be received in the EMS office by June 1 at 4:00 pm. Applications received after the deadline will be held for a period of sixteen (16) weeks.
- Q: What are the prerequisites?
A: The prerequisites are as follows:
- A current EMT-1 card
- A current CPR card (AHA Healthcare Provider level)
- A drivers license or proof of age of 18 or older
- Written verification from employer of one year and 2000 hours work experience (50% of hours must be pre-hospital)
- AMY-10 (or equivalent)
- Q: What are the costs involved?
A: The approximate costs are as follows:
- $26/unit at 49.5 units= $1287.00
- The specialty courses are approximately $360
- The books are approximately $500
- The uniforms are approximately $520
- The paramedic prep class is approximately $150
- Background check approximately $65
- Additional fees for health immunization verification/physical exam
- Other fees may apply and are subject to change
- Q: Is the uniform mandatory?
A: Yes.
- Q: What does the uniform consist of?
A:
- 1 complete uniform set (1 shirt w/ red epilates, 1 pant, 1 t-shirt, 1 belt, boots)
- 3 extra shirts
- 2 extra pants
- 4 extra t-shirts
- Q: When do you have to be in full uniform?
A: Students must be in full uniform by the start of the program.
