100 Things to do in Riverside

Before You Die

– By Larry Burns

Find places to celebrate your cultural communities by experiencing a mix of art destinations around Riverside. With formal studios, pop-up shops, and offices overrun by art, you can make creative expressions every day of the week. Covering diverse genres, this talk helps you find art you find meaningful, showing you where and how to play in the Riverside arts movement.

Larry Burns, author of 100 Things to do in Riverside Before You Die, draws inspiration and ideas from the heady mixture of sights, sounds, peoples, and places of his hometown. He is an active community leader, booster, and all-around fan of the recreation, entertainment, arts, and culture ready to be discovered across the Inland Empire.

He is a founding member of the Inlandia Institute, a non-profit literary organization, and teaches English as an associate professor at Riverside City College. Most days you can find him chasing his 3-year-old daughter along Riverside’s Main Street or keeping her on the trail up Mt. Rubidoux. Future projects include Secret Inland Empire, scheduled for release late 2018 with Reedy Press.

There is a good reason why Riverside was recently recognized in a recent Forbes Magazine article as a top destination for millennials (https://tinyurl.com/y9kkuqdd). Many of those reasons were compiled into a new book called, 100 Things to do in Riverside CA Before You Die. The book identifies unique places to enjoy food, arts, history, entertainment and outdoor recreation. Written with short passages and valuable insider tips, it is your on-the-go resource to stay busy and entertained. It captures the rich history that is Riverside, a community founded on principles of social justice, artistic innovation, and military appreciation, Riverside has acres of open spaces as well as urban centers. No matter where you are in this large metropolitan area, you are never far from a special place to spend your day.
